Don't let her size fool you!

Meet L. 2 going on 20! This girl had me begging, bribing, down on my knees, trying to get a shot of those eyes! She thought it was hilarious that I would snap a photo while she was looking away, because as soon as I did she'd look right at me and crack up. Her little sister C was much more cooperative, but getting an image of the two of them together was by far the most challenging session I've ever done. Thank goodness I have a little bit of patience!

FINALLY, I got the looks I was looking for (In exchange for a lollipop!)

New Site Gallery

I finally updated my gallery on the site with some new images (and some old favorites!). I am trying to figure out how to have seperate galleries, which should be fairly simple, but it's been so long since I worked on the website that I can't remember what I'm doing! May be time to call in the big dogs on this one... But for now, there are at least some new images up that are more representative of what I'm currently shooting. I'm falling in love with color!!

And of course, no blog is complete without a couple images. This is X, he was part of the Portrait Party I did in October.

This little man is going to break hearts some day!

So Far Behind!

Well it has been nearly a month since my last post, so I'd better make up for lost time with some images from a couple of my wonderful clients! This is M and L, M was taken (obviously!) this past summer when there was some green on the ground and in the trees. L was an October shoot.

L could be a poster boy for Ralph Lauren Baby!

Old Photos in a New Light

I've been sorting through old photos on my hard drive. Well, I guess they aren't that old, but I've never even looked at some of them. That's one of the problems with digital photography. I have always been a "take first, ask later" kind of photographer. I took nearly 1000 images at a wedding this summer! So, to actually go through and pull out some for printing is a daunting but rewarding task. I've also improved in my photo editing editing skills, hence the "new light" part. Here's where I'm at...

K received this Lego truck from Great Aunt Gail, and the first thing she said to him was "Don't ride it!" You can see how well that worked out...

The "Dandelion Series" was a fun one, but we sure went through a lot of dandelions trying to get the right "poof"!

K and Pawpaw discussing nuclear physics (or something like that!) at Pawpaw's house renovation project.

I have no idea why he was so upset. It was just one of those mornings.

Alum Creek fun!

A birthday party at the park.

One of my favorites, K and Joe.

Uhoh he turned the camera around.
Looks like I have a budding photographer on my hands!

Memphis - A Photo Fiesta!

Memphis is so real. That's the only word I can think of to describe it. It is full of life, emotion, hospitality and people, my favorite things to photograph!

Beale street is 180 degrees from most touristy places, and I loved it. I took so many photos I had to buy a new memory card while I was there. Luckily I was at a PHOTOGRAPHY conference and trade show, so memory cards were readily available!

These two little men did backflips down Beale and I just had to get their portrait.

The food was phenomenal! Denise and I found a little place called Bigfoot Lodge across from the hotel that served fried dill pickles and bbq egg rolls. THE BEST! I'm considering another trip to Tennessee just so I can visit that place.

Southern hospitality isn't a myth either. Even housekeeping in the hotel had a cheerful "Good Morning" at 6am!

A few more of my favorites...

Granville Maker's Market

The Granville Maker's Market is every Saturday at the Baptist Church in Granville from 9:30-12:30. There's always a wonderful selection of local artists and craftspeople and the farmer's market is right across the street. The event helps benefit the Woodlands as well. I won't be attending every week, but if you'd like to come out contact me and I'll let you know if I'm going to be there. You'll have the chance to chat and look at some of my fine art prints as well as purchase special gift baskets for $50 that include a $100 gift certificate. Hope to see you there some Saturday!

Mr. & Mrs. Robbie Dunn

Congratulations to Crystal and Robbie 6-23-07. I had a great time shooting your special day!

UCP Golf Outing

I was blessed to be a part of UCP's 8th annual People of Promise Golf Outing on June 11th. We had perfect weather and the golf course at the Lakes was absolutely gorgeous.

This was the first year offering commemorative photographs to all the teams, so Heather Dean and I commandeered a golf cart and followed each foursome to the course. After about three hours we finally had everyones photo so we rushed to Cord Camera where they printed all 144 photos in just under an hour. Back to the Lakes we went to stuff 144 frames and we finished up just as the golfers began arriving at the clubhouse.

The photos were a hit!

I couldn't have done it without Heather, Gina and the rest of the great staff and volunteers at UCP. They truly are a wonderful group of people, dedicated to those with disabilities.

From their website: "United Cerebral Palsy of Central Ohio is a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to provide an environment where people with disabilities and aging conditions receive individualized programs and support services."

For more information on UCP and their services in central Ohio, visit their website.

Thank You!

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who attended the Open House this weekend! It was a pleasure meeting everyone new and seeing old friends. Congratulations to the door prize winners as well; I hope you enjoy your prizes. Putting together the Open House was a lot of fun, but boy was Sunday a great day to relax!

But, alas, it's Monday again. And school is almost out (oh my). I'm excited to be able to spend more time with K but on the other hand, this was his first year and I'm a little teary eyed thinking it's over. My little man is growing up so fast! I remember crying about 9 months ago, on that first day in August, I think it was around lunch time when it really hit me; he's not my baby any more. He's got his own friends, interests and personality, and boy what a personality it is!

They really do grow up way too fast.

Online Outlet

Tiny Portraits has debuted on the Sunny 95 Online Outlet! The first half-price gift certificate has already been snatched up but next week they'll add another one, and the week after that, until they either run out of ink printing them or I run myself out of business! Actually, there are only a limited number available so hurry and go check it out, under the "services" tab. It's a great opportunity to get $100 worth of portraits for only $50. There are lots of other great items and services available as well (I have my eye on a couple!)

Little E

20 month old E was an absolute doll. We had to bribe her with a lollipop but in the end I think my favorite shot was because of that lollipop. I kept asking her if I could take just one more picture and finally she was done, and made it clear, so we called it a day. Altogether it was a nearly perfect shoot, except for the tip of the pink crayon I stepped on and ground into the floor (thank goodness it's hardwood not carpet!)

I'm starting to get excited about the open house. There's still a lot I need to get (ok, honestly, just about everything I still need to get!) and I'm not exactly sure about some important details; i.e. where to locate the baby ducks. Yes! There will be baby ducks assuming I can figure out the best place where the kids can get at them but they aren't in the way and DEFINATELY not by the food!!

OPEN HOUSE

Tiny Portraits Photography will be hosting an Open House May 17-19, 2007, in celebration of the new studio! Open House hours will be Thursday 17th 5-8pm, Friday 18th 5-8pm, and Saturday 19th noon-5pm. There will be games and activities for the kids, refreshments and door prizes including a chance to win free portraits.

This event conicides with other family fun in Newark. The annual Clown Town Convention will have a parade Saturday on the square and St. Francis Catholic Church is holding it's Spring Festival that same day just North of downtown. I believe the parade is at 3pm and the festival starts at 2pm, so if you're from out of town why not come on down and make a day out of it!

The Studio

I am excited to announce I finally have a retail location. No more battling with the heat in the garage! I am now located at 132 S 30th St. Suite A in Newark. I'm in the David Sanor center (a great salon!) with Wells Fargo to my right and Uniglobe to my left. I am so happy I waited to find the perfect spot instead of jumping on the first, second, third place that I looked at. (In reality I looked at many more!)

I have a great picture window that will let in plenty of light for those natural lighting shots, hardwood floors that I can use for shots like this one of K (can you believe that is actually a rug though, not a floor?), and a beautiful little courtyard that should prove optimal for shooting this spring and summer.

I am planning an open house later this month, and I would love for all my friends, family and business associates to attend. There will be refreshments and a chance to win a free portrait package. Stay tuned for more information on date and time.

Up and Running!

The webiste redesign is complete and I've decided to start a photography blog to go along with it. I'll be posting pictures from shoots as well as news updates and special events, progress on the studio, etc. This should be fun!

The photo to the right was taken last spring. I just love K's cheesy grin in this one. He's such a ham!
